Reference-Based Styling
Reference-based styling uses an example image to guide the lighting, background, framing and color treatment of a jewelry photo. It helps you work toward a shared catalog look.
What is reference-based styling?
Choose a reference for the photographic style and a source photo for the actual jewelry. The reference guides lighting, background, framing and color treatment. Compare each finished image with its source and the intended collection style.
Why catalog consistency matters
Consistent framing and lighting help shoppers compare pieces. Choose the presentation for your store and each image placement, following the destination’s requirements. Use a reference to guide the collection’s look, then review the images together for consistency.
How is it different from a filter or preset?
A color preset applies the same color or tone curve to every photo, but it does not rebuild backgrounds, composition, or lighting. Reference-based AI generates a new presentation influenced by the approved example. That makes broader visual changes possible, but it also means the result is not a pixel-locked filter and must be reviewed for design accuracy.
Practical workflow
Choose a reference you have permission to use and a clear source for each piece. Try the reference in the photo editor, review one result, then use the approved style for the collection. For Model Worn, the source must already show the exact jewelry correctly worn on the matching body area or a suitable anatomical display, with enough context to assess placement.
