What Jewels Retouch does, and what to check

A practical guide to catalog retouching, creative images, model-worn inputs, video, costs and image handling.

Jewels Retouch is a browser workflow for jewelry manufacturers, wholesalers, brands, retailers and photographers preparing product images. Start with an image you have permission to use, choose the supported task, then inspect the result before using it.

Choose the job your source can support

  • Catalog retouching

Use a clear product photograph for background and presentation cleanup. An optional style reference can guide the look. Catalog batches keep individual sources and results available for review; each item still needs inspection.

  • Creative scenes

A reference guides a styled setting for a supported source. This is a generative scene, and the jewelry may change. Keep an approved factual image alongside creative assets.

  • Model-worn images

Start with the jewelry already visibly worn in its appropriate position, including a sufficiently visible anatomical mannequin or bust. A reference does not establish hidden geometry or exact physical scale.

  • Video

Photo campaigns and reference-video workflows are separate paid tasks with different costs and input requirements. Inspect every scene against its assigned source and check the displayed quote before generation.

Preview, versions and downloads are different actions

For eligible new accounts, the photo trial includes 3 previews and 1 HD download. Paid credit packs are one-time purchases. The first included preview, HD unlock, additional versions, color edits, upscaling and video follow their own rules. Extra versions can consume credits before a download; check the displayed cost before each action.

Count the cost of a usable catalog image

In the standard paid photo workflow, an unpaid preview's HD unlock costs 1 credit. A version already paid for during generation does not need another unlock credit. Hypothetical collection workflow: all versions and unlocks consume 4 credits, and the team considers 3 outputs usable. Assume 12 minutes of review time.

Processing total = 4 × your actual cost per credit. Optional review time cost = 12 ÷ 60 × your hourly rate. Cost per usable output = (processing total + review time cost) ÷ 3.

This is an illustration, not a customer study or a price quote. It assumes no trial allowances, refunds, credit restorations or extra tools. Use actual receipts, account for discounts and taxes consistently, and distinguish consumed credits from unused credits in a purchased pack. Add any other preparation, finishing, handoff or required fees. If no output is usable, report total spend; no finite cost per usable output can be calculated. Check each displayed quote and the current credit rules.

Know when a new photograph or manual finishing is needed

Blur, blown highlights, hidden construction and illegible marks limit what can be checked. Generative cleanup may alter stones, prongs, links, texture or color. Retake the photograph or use a qualified retoucher when the needed detail is missing or a result fails inspection. No single timing, universal fidelity, print suitability or sales outcome is guaranteed.

Check the file you will deliver

Native pixel dimensions and an upscaled export are different properties. Inspect the actual downloaded format, dimensions, background and color appearance against the buyer or studio specification. Do not assume a layered PSD, measured physical scale or calibrated print file is included.

Image rights and handling

Use source images and references you are authorized to upload. Review the current image-handling, privacy and commercial-use terms before submitting confidential material or sharing a generated result. Publication permission for a customer example is separate from permission to process an image.
